About Us
Built with purpose. Built to last.
Acron Technologies is a mission-critical aerospace and defense technology platform: specialized businesses assembled with purpose over more than a decade through strategic acquisitions, organized around shared engineering credentials and a software-enabled services layer that runs across the platform. Our businesses engineer the systems that operators around the world depend on to create safer skies and protect lives.

What Acron Means
Acron takes its name from the ancient Greek ἄκρον (ákron), meaning peak or summit
The operational peak, where conditions are most demanding and failure carries the highest cost. It’s what the businesses inside Acron Technologies were built for: delivering when nothing else can, and building for the edge of what’s possible.
Our Story
From a single rescue beacon company to the integrated group behind aerospace and defense.
Acron Technologies’ story begins in 2013 with the acquisition of ACR Electronics, a company with thirty-plus years of building the satellite-based emergency beacons that bring lost aircraft, vessels, and people home. ACR Electronics anchored the group’s rescue authority and established the regulatory credibility, including Cospas-Sarsat type approvals across its beacon product lines, that has shaped engineering and certification standards across the businesses ever since.
Over the next decade, the group expanded by adding maritime rescue, satellite connectivity, assured navigation, certified avionics, surveillance, flight data analytics, and edge AI. Across these acquisitions, a pattern emerged: each new business brought a defensible market position, a credentialed engineering organization, and a fit with the growing technology and services layer.
In November 2025, Acron Aviation and ACR Group merged under a holding company structure — Acron Technologies — bringing together specialized businesses across two markets. Acron Aviation contributed the L3Harris Commercial Aviation Solutions carve-out and long-tenured OEM avionics relationships. ACR Group contributed the rescue, connectivity, and defense PNT companies assembled since 2013. Together, the merger created a parent group organized around shared engineering credentials and the software-enabled services layer, while each business maintains its own market identity and customer relationships.
Today, Acron Technologies is relied on in more than 35 countries with more than 200 patents, deployed across hundreds of thousands of installed systems, and the regulatory authorities, sole-source positions, and program-of-record relationships that take years to build. Built with purpose, for the edge of what’s possible.
Over the past two years, we have brought together companies whose technologies were built to work alongside each other — in the cockpit, on the battlefield, and in the moments when a space mission or rescue operation depend on getting it right. That strategic fit is what Acron Technologies represents, and it is what will keep making each of these companies stronger as the portfolio grows.”

Acquisition timeline.
Seven phases of deliberate group construction — 2013 to today.
Acron Technologies was built in seven recognizable phases. Each phase added capability the markets were actively rewarding, and each acquisition strengthened a specific position rather than expanding for expansion’s sake. Read in sequence, the seven phases trace deliberate construction from a single rescue beacon company to the integrated aerospace and defense group of today.
PHASE 1
2013–2015
Planting the seeds.
ACQUISITIONS
- ACR Electronics (2013) — the founding acquisition, satellite-based rescue with a strong aerospace market position
- Ocean Signal (2015) — adds maritime beacon leadership
Strategic rationale
Acron Technologies begins in rescue, a market governed by global regulation and structural lifesaving demand. ACR Electronics establishes the group’s regulatory credibility through Cospas-Sarsat type approvals across its beacon product lines, and Ocean Signal extends the rescue footprint into maritime markets across the UK and Europe.

PHASE 2
2016–2017
Connectivity expansion.
ACQUISITIONS
- NAL Research (2016), today NAL Technologies — satellite communication and assured positioning, navigation, and timing
- SKYTRAC (2017) — satellite communications and flight data monitoring
Strategic rationale
Two satellite communications acquisitions add connectivity capability to the group. NAL Research, today NAL Technologies, delivers satellite-based connectivity and assured PNT technology to government, defense, and enterprise users worldwide. SKYTRAC brings aviation satellite communications, flight following, and the web-based mapping platforms that today support more than 7,500 users globally.

PHASE 3
2018–2020
Aerospace solutions.
ACQUISITIONS
- Flight Data Systems (2017) — airborne and ground support equipment for flight data acquisition
- Latitude Technologies (2018) — flight data monitoring and satellite communications
- FreeFlight Systems (2020) — high-performance certified avionics for flight safety
Strategic rationale
Acron Technologies expands deeper into certified avionics, adding the recorders, altimeters, navigation, and flight data acquisition hardware that aerospace operators depend on every day. These acquisitions establish the engineering and certification credentials that anchor the Aerospace Solutions market.
PHASE 4
2021–2022
Defense Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) leadership.
ACQUISITIONS
- TRX Systems (2022) — assured PNT for GPS-denied and satellite-denied environments
- Blue Sky Network — aerospace connectivity (today operating as part of NAL Technologies)
- TrooTrax Mission — aerospace connectivity and recurring services
Strategic rationale
Defense PNT becomes a structural growth market as documented GPS jamming and spoofing reshape military operating environments. TRX Systems brings the group into U.S. Army Programs of Record territory; Blue Sky Network and TrooTrax extend the connectivity layer into specialized recurring-service markets. In January 2026, NAL Research and Blue Sky Network consolidated under a single brand — NAL Technologies (NALtec) — bringing the group’s Iridium connectivity and assured PNT product lines together under one market identity.

PHASE 5
2023–2025
Transformation.
ACQUISITIONS
- Acron Aviation (formerly L3Harris Commercial Aviation Solutions) — acquisition closes; merger with ACR Group forms Acron Technologies
Strategic rationale
The transaction that forms Acron Technologies at scale. The L3Harris Commercial Aviation Solutions carve-out brings the long-running OEM avionics relationships and the engineering depth that anchors Acron’s certified avionics — including, through the ACSS joint venture with Thales, FAA STC Organization Designation Authorization for Part 23 and Part 25 avionics certification. The November 2025 merger between Acron Aviation and ACR Group creates Acron Technologies as the parent group.
PHASE 6
2024–2025
Aerospace & defense deepening.
ACQUISITIONS
- APS Aerospace (2025) — aviation flight data monitoring, accident investigation, and the Lumina analytics platform
- Honeywell SkyConnect — aviation connectivity service, acquired from Honeywell
- Honeywell Thermal Switches — exclusive license and key related assets for thermal switch product line
- Trakka Systems — airborne EO/IR imaging and mission systems
- Digital Barriers — edge AI video analytics and low-bandwidth streaming
Strategic rationale
Five acquisitions in roughly 18 months extend the group’s depth in aerospace connectivity, flight data analytics, and defense surveillance. Trakka and Digital Barriers establish video and edge AI capabilities for Advanced Image Processing & Edge Analytics. APS Aerospace extends the analytics layer. Honeywell SkyConnect and Thermal Switches deepen the avionics and connectivity footprints.
PHASE 7
PRESENT
Frontier defense solutions.
ACQUISITIONS
- Sightline Intelligence (2026) — edge AI video-based tracking, recognition, and classification for autonomous systems and defense applications
- Alereon (2026) — ultra-wideband wireless chipsets and modules powering the U.S. Intra-Soldier Wireless standard
Strategic rationale
Two acquisitions add frontier defense capabilities to the platform. Sightline Intelligence extends Acron Technologies into edge AI: the technology layer that runs advanced image processing and autonomous-system intelligence at the sensor rather than relying on backhaul. Alereon adds sole Department of War-approved supplier status for UWB components in the Intra-Soldier Wireless initiative — the wireless inside multiple Army Programs of Record, anchored by NSA- and NIST-certified module capability that competitors have not matched. Together they open two new solution areas: Edge AI within Advanced Image Processing & Edge Analytics, and Resilient Connectivity as a standalone cluster.
